Collective Empowerment means  working together to effect the change we want.  Ten WEEL members in Helena had a chance to learn strategies at a three day training which took place on Sept. 21-23, and was conducted  which was conducted by the AFL-CIO.   WEEL has been working with the state AFL-CIO since the community conversations we organized last fall.  This is part of WEEL's ongoing commitment to work with the most powerful and largest group of labor organizers in
Montana.
Helena members took advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn about collective empowerment.  We also learned about the  history of the working class.  The AFL-CIO provided us with a frame work to understand the oppression throughout American History.  We learned that scapegoating of the poor is nothing new.  Those in power have used it to keep the working class segregated.  Pitted against each other it is difficult to secure the rights we deserve.
