On May 9, 1998 WEEL was approved for membership by Montana Shares. This federation of twenty-five distinguished Montana non-profits is a fundraising collaborative. Montana Shares was established in 1988 and raises funds through a workplace giving campaign in the Fall. The first campaign raised $11,000 from individuals in 12 workplaces, including state government. Ten years later, the 1996-97 campaign raised $143,000 from donors in 115 workplaces.
MT Shares groups address an impressive array of concerns in our communities from sustainable agriculture to support for those infected with AIDS; preservation of habitat to promotion of civil liberties; grants for artist to seeking victory over mental illness. WEEL is honored to be admitted to Montana Shares and is in good company

parents would never contribute a penny toward the support of the children they helped to bring into the world. And the children suffer, with only one parent to support them. Often the custodial parent denies him or herself such things as medical care or nutritious food so that the child won't have to go without.
Child care programs for the working poor are sadly underfunded as well. How many readers have felt as if they were merely working to pay the sitter? How many of us are metaphorically running as fast as we can and still falling behind!
We must all work together for
economic justice for EVERYONE: males and females, children and adults, all races. Alone, we can each make a difference, but collectively we can change the world.
Collectively we must change
misconceptions about public assistance and those who need it. Collectively we must vote and care and make our voices heard. And when we band together, we become a force which cannot be denied!
